Week 63: La Expiación de mi Salvador

Hello everyone!! What a great week it has been!! :)) I am so glad that I get the chance to read about family and friends every Monday, so I can get the chance to be "Home" for a bit! :) Thank you for all the Loving Letters and Emails!! :)

Wow, really though I have no idea where to start!! I mean wow, this past week has been super crazy!! We were in Osorno for 4 of the 7 days!! I had to start my SECOND Visa (Yeah... I'm officially OLD in the Mission...) We had some sweet meetings, and I studied a BUNCH about the Atonement!!!

Where to start where to start....

How about with I have Assignments for whoever is reading this right at this moment!! :) de hecho, tres!! Primero es para read a talk that Brandon sent me a year ago!! I read it and marked it up while I was in my first sector, and as I found my "Flea Chart" (yes I have one) I found this talk on Repentance by Theodore M. Burton which is called "The Meaning of Repentance" then there is another talk that my companion printed yesterday which we read last night before bed called "His Grace is Sufficient" by Brad Wilcox which I think I read in the MTC or before here on the Mission, which is AMAZING!!! Last you have to look up the video on Youtube called "Missionary work and the Atonement" which Pres. Eyring and Elder Holland talk, and its SOOOOOOOOO AMAZING!! I first saw that video in Coyhaique!! But we saw it again this past week in our District meeting, and it was just super cool!!! :) You have to watch it and instead of thinking of "Missionary Work" Think of "My Life, My Calling, or My Family" something along those lines!!! :)

Now a Miracle that I saw this past week, that was something for my learning?? Yeah, well two of the elders here in Rio Negro, have been leaving the house a mess... and so I have been having to clean up for them, I have asked them like 4 or 5 times this week to take their clothes upstairs and to clean up their messes (Hmmm sound familiar mom?) and it was just getting really frustrating by the end of the week, because I felt like they were just ignoring me, especially when one told me yesterday morning after I asked him to take his clothes upstairs, he asked me why? I told him so it wouldn't be messy downstairs, and then he replies "well then it would be messy up stairs..." and I just wanted to slap my hand to my face so hard..... So when my companion and I got home after church, since we have to do a Sunday Afternoon Study in training, while my companion was in the Bathroom, I remembered that in the talk of "The Meaning of Repentance" there is a part that talks about Mosiah 2:17 and how when we are serving our neighbor we are serving God! So I finished with my dumb thoughts and I started to clean, I folded all of the clothes that were downstairs and took em upstairs and his shoes and everything and neatly put them on his bed and it was super awesome! The Downstairs was clean and it was lots better!! :) Then later at night, we were just chilling before bed and when I came into my room, I noticed my companion had organized our clean clothes that we had received and put them on my bed, so I said "Wow sick someone helped me!" Then the elder who I helped hit me up with a "Someone helped me too!! Super Cool!" So I felt good inside and Life just got so much better!! So here is a another test for all of you!! When someone is bugging you by not doing something?? SERVE them and you will feel much better!!

Also?? Sorry Mom and Dad for always leaving things on the stairs and not just cleaning up the house like I should have.......... I now know how you felt with your rebellious son at home... I should have listened, so please forgive me?? :)

Last?? We got a reference from our Branch President this past week of a girl in college who wanted to learn a little more English with us!! So we contacted her and set up an appt. on Saturday!! So she came to the church with her boyfriend and they are ummm... The religion that goes to church on Saturday!! I don't remember what it is in English! Anyway, we taught them English and got to know them, and then taught them the Restoration (In Spanish). Then last night we met with Tamara again! We helped her with some more English, and then I realized hey!! My Companion has a book of Mormon in English, and so we read the Book of Mormon Introduction in English (hehehehe yeah I thought of that in the end) then we gave her a Book of Mormon in Spanish, that we wrote our testimonies in for her!! Then we received more revaluation, that we are going to "Practice" English with her by just teaching all of the lessons to her in English!! Ha! Who would have ever thought, I am in Chile, on a Spanish Speaking Mission, teaching in English for the first time!! Sabe que genial es?!?! Super Bak...Genial!!!! :D

Really??? This week has been so awesome!! Like you said mom, the weeks just go by SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Fast!! In July they were slow, but now they are SO FLIPPEN FAST!! The just get faster and faster!! Especially when you have super Kapo compañeros!! Elder Rich is such a cool kid, and we get along just so dang well!! I Love the kid, and we are gonna just keep working great!!

We now have to get out of here because our time is almost up with P-day and we have to go teach a lesson, a Noche de Hogar, and then English! Its gonna be a busy night!!

Thankyou for all the prayers, emails, letters, thoughts, and everything that everyone does!! (Also the package Mom, ((Don't worry its hidden away so I can't open it until next week)))

I Love you all and you are all in my prayers!! Have a wonderful week!!

Trying to make my Heavenly Parents, and my Earthly Parents proud,

Elder Connor Holt

Week 62: Feliz 18 de Septiembre!!!!

Hello all!! How all ya'lls doin?!?!

Today was a pretty awesome day coming here on the Bus to Osorno!! I mean right as we got here I was reminded of Dad when a good oldies song came on the radio!! Do I know the name of the song?? Yeah definitely not.... But it had a good tune that goes like this...

"Summer Breeze makes me feel fine"

I just can't wait for that summer breeze, because the spring breeze today is "Chile" hahaha yepp, still use that one!!

Anyways its been a super crazy week!! We started the week like it was normal, until Wednesday we had a sweet reunion with all the Elders and Hermanas from the North of the Mission, and Elder Viñas of the 70 dropped by to come talk to us! So that was super cool!! There were so many Palos, but his message was super powerful, he talked a lot about the Atonement!! Super Amazing!! There was so much Spirit there!!

During a break I went out and was talking with past companions, Elder Santisteban, Elder Christopherson, Elder Robertson, there were lots of my companions there and then I saw this Elder who was eating something as he passed by me and I told him that, that was a good idea to bring food!! Then I did a double take and looked at him again, then he said to me "Hey I think I know you" and I said the same.... Then we clicked that we did know each other, from 4 years ago... at.. EFY!! The kid was in my EFY company!! Never thought in my life that someone from my company at that time, would be serving with me in the same mission, so Elder Hughes and I snapped a photo!!

Then Thursday was a ParTay... Not! It was the 18th of September which is Independence here!! So it was sweet!! So we were gonna go hang out with members and things that day to celebrate... But Elder Holt was sick... So I literally was sitting in front of the fire the entire day... I dunno what got me, but it was not a party!! The night before?? Well my companion is freaking awesome!! Like that's when my sickness came on, so we went home a little early and I hopped in the shower, and the kid made me food!! It was super sweet!! But when I got out I was too sick to eat, so I just went and laid on my bed to sleep!! But when I got under my covers I was shivering so much and I think he saw that, so the kid checked my temperature like Mom did when I was a kid, and then threw two more blankets on me and tucked me in!! Like the coolest!! All day Thursday he was just checking on me and helping me out as well!! Love the kid! Such a Great Companion!!

Friday I felt a little better, so we went to the activity at the branch! It was super sweet! Nothing like Breakfast outside our house on the 4th, but we made lots of food! My companion and I made some Bomb Crepes with a secret sauce and Nutella and everyone wanted some by the end, and it was so funny, all our food was gone within 5 minutes!! So it was a hit!

Later we played some games, and I only did a few! We had a tug a war! So we had one with the Missionaries and the Elders! We almost won! But at the end they got us!! It was lots of fun!! The Bomberos parked their trucks at the church as well! So there was one that was old school and had a familiar face on the front hood! You'll have to tell John Holmes that he doesn't have the only puppy anymore!! Hhahaha

Last week we destroyed a house (World Service Day that the Prophet Announces) It was the house of the Mom of the 1st counselor, it was flooded a couple months ago, and so they are gonna build another!! Then this past Saturday we built a Green House with Jacob! It was super sweet!! :)

Being  a Missionary is fun because when someone bails on giving a talk, they come right to us.... So I gave a talk yesterday! My third here in the mission, which was so much better then number two and one, and I didn't even prepare for it hahahaha and then We finished the week yesterday out in the Campo again! We went out to lunch with Familia Arriza! It was super good!! Her food is just the best out here in Rio Negro!! So we had a great Lunch!! And had a party out there!! :)

But over all it was a great week (except for being sick) but its cool because I have learned so much!! We'll see what this week is gonna bring!! I really hope lots of success so that my new companion can see some crazy stuff! Since Rio Negro is a tough little sector!!

I just want all of you who are reading this to know that this church, IS TRUE!!! Really though and it brings TRUE HAPPINESS!!! I mean on Thursday when I couldn't be outside sharing the gospel, I was upset and sad,........ I want the Whole world to know the happiness that we receive sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ!! Its True!!!

I Love you all and hope that you all have a wonderful week!! :)

Trying to make you Proud,

Elder Connor G. Holt

Week 61: Es Un Hombre (Yeah thanks Matt)

Hola todos!!! Oh wait, I guess I should talk in Inglés because that's kinda what I am doing right now with mi hijo!! How is everyone!?! I hope just dandy, because here in Rio Negro Elder Rich and I are doing freakin' AWESOME!!

Training is SO GREAT!! I Love it!! It makes me so happy and I have learned so much already from my new companion in the past 5 days!! He went to Mexico for the CCM and so that has been so much fun to talk about to see the differences and what not!! He is from St. George, and is just a strait up Stud!!

This week, has been MORE THAN GREAT! I really don't even know where to start talking about it, but its kinda hard since I have like ten minutes to write at this moment, because we are going to go Bowling with the Zone, and then finish emailing after, so my goal is to finish this before we go!!

Lets see, we'll start on Wednesday!! When we got to the church here in Osorno where we got to talk with the APs about the trainers and what we would be doing for the next 12 weeks and all that fun Jazz! Then here is where the Spirit starts!! President Obeso wanted us to stand up and sing Called to Serve, but I was like the only one all excitedly singing it, so he stopped us and asked, is that how Missionaries sing??? So we started again, and during the first chorus all the new missionaries started to file in up on the stand behind Presidente Obeso and we sang together and the Spirit was just so flippen strong it was sooooo coooll!! I was trying to guess who Elder Rich was, and I couldn't do it, but when they hooked us up, I was SOOOO Stoked!! There was also 3 other elders there from my group who were training, and 1 other who is a ZL in Osorno so we had the 5 of us there, that was super sick!! :)

Then where to start?? I mean when we got back to Rio Negro, we got right into working and it was sweet!! We started by going to my favorite members! Ricardo and Carla, who are they coolest!! Ricardo has 2 years and Carla has 24 and they have THE CUTEST daughter named Josepha!! So cool they are!! :) We taught they entire day, and my companion just has SOOO MUCH SPIRIT!! I honestly don't want him to learn more Spanish, because he talks so plainly with the Spanish he knows and the Spirit is just sOOOOOO STRONG!!! ITs sooo cool!! :) Like I really just don't know how to explain it, I am just SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!! The past 5 days, I don't think I have been happier here in the Mission it is soooo cool!!! :)

On Friday we had the Baptism on Jacob!!! çççhhheeaaaa!! How sweet right?!?!!! Thats right Satan!! Take that!! 4 Baptisms in 3 weeks!! Oh man its super sweet!! And the other two elders are gonna have a Baptism this Saturday!! How cool!!!! :D The Aps came, because they all started their missions here in Rio Negro and then they all knew him!! So it was super Sweet! Then Elder Rasgido had the chance to come here with his new companion!! He went to Puerto Varas, and he got the chance to come, so we had 9 elders there!! Ah! How cool!!!

Saturday was the world Service day!! Oh let me tell you, we hit up the service!! We started by flippen DEMOLISHING A HOUSE!! Yeah it was more than service, it was SUPER FUN!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah!! IT was great! We got lots of pictures!! Then we also cut a bunch of wood!!

So on Sunday morning we were super sore, but it was all good, because we got to church and had the confirmation of Jacob!! The Aps came to church with us as well, and it was super awesome! So we had 7 elders there, and we sang in church again, like we did when Elder Gubler came to our church last Cambio!! It was just so cool!! So much Spirit there and yeah!!

Like really though, when we are feeling the spirit here in the Mission... Its the Best!!! :) I Love it!! My Companion is Amazing!! Can't wait to see the success we are going to have in the next 11 weeks!!!

But We are off to go Bowling!! So I am going to send pictures here in a bit when we finish!! I HAVE SO MANY!!! :D

I Love you all and hope that you have an Awesome Week!! Can't wait to see what comes of this next week!! and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE PRAYERS THEY HELP SO MUCH!!!!  Bring it on Satan!!!

Trying to make you Proud!

Semana 60 Matters into God's hands

Hello Everyone!!! How are things going there back home?!?! :)

I really don't even know where to begin, this past week has been so up and down emotionally, physically, and spiritually... Lets just say Rio Negro is freakin Crazy!!

But before we get into all of that... Sounds like you guys had an awesome conference mom!! I like the things that you shared with me!! :) The Hale family has lots of Missionaries, now to make that thought a little bit bigger, add the Holt family as well and then you have even more!! But I am happy to be the last Grandson on both sides of the family to seal off the Grandsons and Missions!!

Voy a encontrar la luna este noche si no hay nubes de lluvia!! :) Gracias por tu besos mamá!

Yeah, everything else... Well here we go!!

This past week, just so many thoughts on the family!! There were lots of times that I got to share experiences and that we were talking about the family mom it was awesome!! :)

But I can't even begin to start on the things that Satan is doing here in Rio Negro, I can't even begin to tell you all the things I have seen go down. I have such a Strong Testimony that Satan is a real being, he wants ALL of us to fail and to not have Success or Happiness, he just wants us ALL to be like himself!! Watch out because, he is getting stronger in this falling world we live in.

We had an intercambio and I got to work with one of the other elders on Friday and that was super fun!! We did so much the entire day!! Until we went to correlation and heard about the young women's president. Her name is Camila, and has 20 years, and is a convert of 3 months. We heard that she didn't want her calling anymore and didn't want to be a member, because of some problems. so we went over to her house after this meeting with our ward mission leader to visit her, we shared a message that I just love, its the Mormon message by Elder Holland where the guy who just keeps walking!! I think it was from 2009 or 2010! Look for it!! It is Amazing!! But the spirit was so strong there!! So it was a great visit!! After she told us she didn't know if she was going to go to church... So what did I do?? Well I remembered a letter from Sister Palmer a few weeks ago where she testified of the blessings of Fasting, so I fasted for her yesterday to come to church and put the matter into Gods hands!! She wasn't there during sacrament, and so I was a little bummed, but I saw her after sacrament, as she went in with President Bello for and interview, and I was SOOO happy that she came to church!!! She now still wants her calling and to repent of the things that happened this past week, and be a member! Blessings of Fasting are great!!

And that's not all, because here is another!! Like I said last week, we weren't sure if Hna, Berta was gonna get baptized!! So last week, my companion and I had a fast for her!! So we tried to do everything that we could for her this past week!! Then we put the matter into God's hands and look what happened!! On Thursday in the morning she had a little bit of time that we could have her baptism interview, and she passed!! Then a half hour before the baptism, we had a little bit of time to finish up her last lesson, and then she was Baptized with Cecilia!!! Another miracle!!

But wait, there's more!!!

This one wasn't a fasting blessing, but yesterday we went to the house of Andres in the campo and it was super awesome!! We took some fun pictures with their sheep!! But when we left, and when we got to the next house afterwards I realized that I didn't have my personal wallet... uh oh... They lived like a half hour away... So I called them and asked for them to look for it, but they couldn't find it... So when we got home last night, I looked EVERYWHERE!! But I couldn't find it... I was super stressed..... I was getting very nervous I was going to need to call you guys today or email you to ask you to cancel my card... So what did I do?? I put the matter into God's hands and prayed, and I asked him with all the faith that I had, not doubting a thing to have my wallet in my pocket of my Jacket. After I finished my prayer, I hung up my jacket ***Gasp I know Elder Holt hang up his clothes?!?! I've changed Mom, I've changed*** and searched in the pockets, but I couldn't find it... But then I had the feeling to search in my Suit Jacket, so I looked in all those pockets, and not the first, second, third, but the fourth... It was there. I NEVER put it in there... It was a personal miracle for me to find it and another Faith building Experience!! So I finished searching with another prayer of lots of Gratitude!!

So this week has been super crazy!! Its been lots of fun as well!! But now we have two new problems to deal with that I need all your help at home!! First off, Jacob has Baptismal date for this Friday September 12th!! But the Zone Leaders told me that if he drinks tea, he won't be able to be baptized, which would be a bummer, since he is planning on getting Baptized at 3 right after getting married in the Morning!! So I need the help of everyone at home for your strengthening prayers at home, as they have helped Berta as well!! Please Pray for Jacob to have the strength!!

The second problem... Well not a problem, its a new challenge no mas, is that President Obeso called me this last Saturday and said that.... Elder Holt is gonna be a Papá this next cambio!! I am gonna be a trainer of a new Elder!! A Gringo!! (Por fin) Its been since May that I have had a Gringo Compañero!! But I am super excited!! I am super happy that I got to read the letter of Elder Jones, because he is a trainer now, and it looks like Elder Sommercorn in Washington is gonna be a trainer as well!! Whats up!! Way to rep 15th ward!!! But my new companion is named Elder Rich I think, and its gonna be a blast! I am super stoked!! So please pray for my new companion, because he is gonna have a crazy time here in Rio Negro, its a tough sector... But I am gonna help him and make sure these next 12 weeks are the best 12 weeks of his mission!! :)

Anyways, I can tell you that my testimony has grown so much in this past week!! I don't even know where to begin, how about with just, I KNOW without a single doubt that this church is true, and that anyone who wants to have True Happiness, needs to just try it, and see what it feels like!! As I can say "Ser Mormon es Ser Feliz" really though, to be Mormon is to be Happy!!

I Love you all!! Thank you so much for all your emails letters, prayers, and most of all your Love!! You are all so Amazing!!

Trying to make you proud,
Elder Connor Holt

Ps Tell everyone I say hello, and also I am gonna talk to President Obeso this week about Andrea, to see if we can meet up, since we have been talking these past couple of weeks!!

Week 59: Holy freakin September?!?!

Hey ya'lls!! How the heck are we already into September..... I don't understand where time goes... CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME?!?!?!

Yeah, sorry for that little freak out there.... But yeah..... anyways! How is everything back home in Utah?! Sounds like a good little activity for the Clecklers!! I hope all went well there with that!! Keep working with them, and we will have the next Baptism in the 15th ward here real soon!!! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEN!!! Sorry I forgot to shout that out last week, it was a crazy week.... Enjoy the food for me, don't worry if there is extra, all of us missionaries will eat it when we get home!! Or at least we'll eat a lot when we get there for the 4th next year!! :)

To answer your questions real fast, Yes the Baptism happened, we'll get more into that later, my compañero baptized, and I confirmed, and it is on Sunday during sacrament. Noche de Hogares (FHE) usually happen when we schedule them, but sometimes the members ask us to come help!! Oh I can't even begin to tell you how much I have learned here on the mission, about how important the family is... Like really though, thank you for all you guys have done for me my entire life.... Like I feel like a punk for all that crap I gave you guys before the Mission... Please forgive me, but yes. When I am a daddy one day, we will be having FHE every week, we will read the scriptures, every day, we will have family prayer, everyday. I want my family to be "Supa Tight Dawg!" like we gonna be Legit. Really though, the family is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo Important!!

Okay to start the week, it was freakin awesome here!! Well, at least the end of the week was!! At the beginning of the week, it was kinda hard... We had some discouragement, but we got through it. It was really a dumb reason, like it wasn't for anything, I think it was just because our numbers were low for the beginning of the week, but that was because we had done lots of service!! So it wasn't that we weren't working, and I can tell you, we were still super tired all week, but it was a different type of tired, like just I dunno....

Anyways, we had some great lessons this past week, in the end of the week!! First off, we are gonna talk about the Baptism!!

Andres is a stud!! The kid is 9 years, and has such a great testimony!! His mom and older brother are members, but his dad isn't, and when we invited him to be baptized, his mom told us that he told his dad he was gonna be baptized and was super excited for it!
Then we taught him everything, and has just been super awesome!! He passed his interview a week ago from Saturday, and then this past Saturday he was Baptized!!
On Saturday we started to fill the font at 12 so he could have hot water, we passed the church at about 3 to go check on it, and it was half way full with hot water, and so we left and then returned at 4 so we could take the president of the branch with us to go teach Cecilia (I'll talk about her later) but as we checked on the water, there was none... It was starting from the bottom again... What?? Yeah, there was no time, so we had to fill it with cold water...
At 6  the Baptism started!! But.... We had no clothes for Andres... Shoot! So we were calling everywhere to find some clothes, and then we got some!! So we started at about 6:25 but its okay, because that was when everyone finally got there as well!!
The baptism was awesome! The kid was super happy afterwards!! :)

Then on Sunday I got the chance to confirm him a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and give him the Gift of the Holy Ghost! It was super sweet, because at the baptism and at the confirmation, we had lots of investigators to watch and see what happens!! :) But It was awesome, I can tell you that the confirmation here went better than it did in May when I confirmed Miriam a member of the Church, because I have a little more vocab in Spanish now, and it just worked out! After church his mom asked me if I heard about the experience of Andres during the Confirmation! I told her no, what happened?! And she told me that Andres said he felt an Angel had come down and was telling him this blessing!! Wow... Like really?? I felt so blessed afterwards to know that I could help with this confirmation, so he could feel this Angel!! It was Awesome!!

After the Baptism on Saturday night, we taught Berta, we finished the commandments with her, and there was so much Spirit!! In the end of the Lesson, my compañero asked her if she would be baptized this next week, once again, because ya tenia fecha. It was sweet!! I felt so much Spirit, right after he asked her... Like my entire body was just full of it!! Then after, she said yes! It was sweet!! So we are planning for her Baptism this Saturday!!

On Saturday night, while I was writing in my Journal about that Baptism, I had some personal revelation, to talk to our investigator Cecilia who had fecha for the 12th, but to ask her if she would like to be baptized on the 6th. So yesterday during church, we asked her, and she said OF COURSE!!! So she could be Baptized with Berta!! So they are both planning for Baptism for this Saturday!! So after Church we had their interviews, but the Zone Leaders got here late... So Berta couldn't have her interview, because she had a reunion for work..... Then after her Reunion, something happened so she couldn't have it... But we still have Faith that she can be baptized this week!! Its gonna take some miracles!! But we have another Baptism planned for this Saturday for Berta and Cecilia!! Its gonna be Awesome!! :) But PLEASEEEE Put Berta in your Prayers so she can be Baptized as well!! Its gonna take a miracle!"!!

Really though, I am learning so much out here in the Mission, I mean, I am super stoked to see what you guys think of me when I get home!! That's in another... shoot only 10 months...  But I can't wait to see what you all think!! Hopefully its for the better, and not the worse!! :)

I Love you all so much!! I am now gonna go hit up the White Shirt and tie, and get back out to work after buying my groceries for this week!! We have transfer news at the end of this week!! I have no idea where the time has gone!!! I Love you!!

Trying to make you Proud,

Elder Connor Holt
