Week 50: Officially 364 days left......What?

¡¡¡Hola Gringolandia!!!

As of today, I officially have one year left.... Weird! Or at least that is what my ministerial certificate tells me, that I only have until June 30, 2015. So weird to think about!!

This week is the 4th of July!! So burn some things for the Elder down here in the cold yeah?? :) We will be having a Branch activity that night, which will be super awesome! I am stoked about that, but it will be nothing like fireworks at Murray Park and eating on Apple Vale in the morning, so eat some pancakes for me since I didn't get to eat them last year either.... #LameSauce

This past week was a lot better than the first week! I can tell you that! But if I didn't have my Elder ____ I would of died... Elder _____is definitely one of my Best friends here in the Mission! He is my District leader, and his comp. Elder ______ is super awesome as well! But Elder _____ is well, I guess I can say this... Practically Mike Jones!! (Adam Jones) He sounds like him, and even Acts like him! It is awesome! Did all the same things as him before the Mission! The only thing is, is he is from Tooele, but no importa!! The kid is awesome! Thankfully, he had two weeks with my companion before I did, so he knows EXACTLY how I feel!

Why is this week was better?? Well I realized something... If we want to teach at all here in Los Muermos, I have to teach. I have to start everything and do all that stuff!! We had our first lesson here in Los Muermos on Saturday, and that's when I realized it hahaha it was awesome! Then yesterday, we had a BUSY day of working! Which was awesome!! Then we got home late.... Which was the bummer of the day, I tried to be on time, but my comp didn't want to be, So its really hard sometimes in the house. So that is this weeks project, is to figure out what we can do to change that!

Last week after we got done writing we went into Puerto Montt, where we ate Pizza Hut!! It definitely wasn't like Pizza Hut in the states... Then after we went to the Stake Center and we had a meeting with the Missionaries from Puerto Montt, and President Rappleye and his wife showed up with Elder and Sister Goodman, well Brother and Sister, they finished their Mission in January, but we got to say goodbye one last time, because President Rappleye left on Thursday and now President Obeso is here! We'll see how long it is until we get to meet him!! But I got to see a bunch of people there! Like Elder Vargas, an Elder that Alan Brinkerhoff baptized, and Elder Gibleyou! So that was super sweet! Elder Gibleyou is in my zone!! Sick! #HaleStorm (Out Moto)

Then we got to go back on Tuesday for our District Meeting and we were given permission to finish our P-day stuff since we were with Pres. on Monday, so we went to the mall and ate MCDONALDS!! IT was so good, I have missed those big macs!! They dress differently there though... hahaha

But other than that it was a good week, I forgot to reread your letter from last week to reply to it today, so I will be doing that this next week, and replying to today's letter and last week's letter, I am hoping that with my next comp. we can reply in the evening again, because I like reading and then replying later on!

We are gonna go get muddy today!! Super excited! We are gonna go do some service and help get some more Firewood! So that is gonna be a party!!

Also, yeah, Chile lost... That was a bummer because they killed Brazil!! They really should have won, since they gave the only point Brazil had to them!! Hahaha it was an Awesome game! But our days of watching TV in the mission have come to an end, and I will have to wait for next year!!

Anyways, I Love you guys so much, thank you for all the love and support that you have all given me!! I Love you!!

Elder Connor Holt (I also still love saying that)

Week 49: Baby Sitter Elder Holt

Hey everyone!! How is it going?!?! I am here in my new sector called "Los Muermos" I am not in Puerto Montt... Sorry mom you will have to change the sticker on the map. It is about 45 minutes outside of Puerto Montt, and that is where we will be going after I finish writing here!

Los Muermos is awesome!! We are opening a new sector, there were only two elders here before, but now there are 4 of us! It is awesome! And the Shower?? Oh my gosh how hard it is to get out in the morning... Other than I have like 5 minutes to shower if I want to start my studies on time.... But it is THE BEST shower in the mission, I am in LOVE!! I left Utah, and now I am in Forks Washington... Beware of Vampires... JK hahahaha But it has Rained three of the four days here hahaha so lots of rain, but its not nearly as cold as Coyhaique was!! :))

Well, where to even start, I will start by saying, I Love you guys so much! I can't believe I have been out so long... Time just goes so fast here!!

I will be writing in the mornings I think for the next 6 weeks, I believe, I am not to sure, we will find out! At least today!! Ha

My new companion? He is from Bolivia! He is a cool guy, I will get you guys a picture next week, but if you want to see what he looks like, ask Brandon to find a picture of Keng from Thailand, because I feel he looks a lot like him!

I thought this cambio was gonna be so much better than the last cambio! Not gonna lie, especially after the first day with my companion! It was awesome! We taught with the spirit and everything!! The first night we had an Awesome experience, where we knocked on a door and then, a guy answers and was happy! (It was after Chile won the second game so of course he was happy) He was super awesome!! HE INVITED US IN AFTER THE FIRST TIME WE KNOCKED ON THE DOOR!! It was super cool!! So we walked in and then he said, hey the elders are here! So we got to talk with his sister and her son, it was super awesome, they were less active, but we found new people which was cool!!

Chile started to play 9 minutes ago, and we are going to go take a bus to Puerto Montt to say goodbye to President Rappleye because Presidente Obeso comes this week!! I also saw the end of USA last night, and that was super sad.... :/ But hey they are in right??

I know this is a short letter, I am sorry, I am not real sure of what more to say, other than Perseverar Hasta el Fin. Which is what I will be doing this cambio and being a leader!! :)

I love you all and hope that you have a wonderful week!! I will send you photos of this area next week!!

your son and friend,

Elder Connor Holt

p.s. I Loved and will Miss Coyhaique so much!!!

Semana 48: Hallelujah!

Hola alls yalls de Los Estados Unidos y de otro Misiones!

Como Estàn todos?? Aqui en Coyhaique, Elder Holt es super Feliz! El tiene cambios en dos dias, y es tan animado!!

Yeah, so to answer your Question Mamma, I have transfers on Wednesday, I am leaving the small town of Coyhaique, and I am going to the HUGE town of Puerto Montt! The only things I know of Puerto Montt, is its the Biggest City in the Mission, like its HUGE and if we were to ever see a Temple here in my Mission, I think it would be here, and.... there is a.... Micky Dee's!!!! :)) (Can't wait to buy a Big Mac!! Hahahahaha ;)

I like that how you said the Lord is definitely Speeding the time up because the world really is falling to pieces, although, I can not describe to you how LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG this last transfer was, it was really hard, definitely the Hardest I have had here in the Mission, but I have learned so much from it as well!! :)

You bet your dollars that Chile won!! It was an Awesome game!! We watched it with the family of Roxanna and Roberto!! It was super sweet, and then we had a lesson with them afterwards!! I dunno if I can watch the game this wednesday since I will be on an airplane but, I may of landed before it starts! Who knows!!

(My Wife will Always be right) That is why I still fight now... Hahaha just kidding, I don't try to fight! But we did have contention! I will tell you that!! So it will be awesome one day not to have Any contention!!! Woot Woot!

Awesome to hear with the excitement of Dad to serve the Sisters with Aunt Sandie!! By the way hope you guys had a happy Aniversario and Dad a happy dia de papa!

The picture is upside-down, things I like to do with my pictures when I get bored! ;) But good eyes dad, to see its upside-down!!

Video of Roberto? Search Roberto Giannini on Youtube and also Esperando Esperando on Youtube as well! :)

I think that is all............... Oh but for the next package?? Could you throw in a Chapstick or two?? I am almost out of my carmex, and Chile doesn't sell anything of Chapstick.... Gah!! ITs a tough life!!

Well, like I said earlier, this week was super Long.....

For the most of it, almost all of our citas (set lessons) fell through during the day or mornings, so we had a lot of just walking around which was very hard.... Not a fan of just walking around... Although, there was one day that we were out walking, and we had over ten contacts, Elder Santisteban didn't want to contact more, so I was just contacting as we were walking, and we got the address of someone, so a couple of days later, we passed by his house around 6 o'clock but he wasn't there, but when we talked to his wife, she told us that he had told her about us, and that he would be home around 8, so we left and came back a couple days later around 8 and he and his son who has 28 years were there! So we ended up teaching the Restoration! It was super sweet! Hopefully they will keep investigating as I leave, we couldn't go back this weekend because they left for the campo (country side).

Then on Sunday morning when I got out of the shower, was when I was told that the Zone Leaders called and told them our cambios! So I am getting transferred! My next companion is a Latino! Named Elder Torrez I think?? I don't remember, but you guys can have a picture of him next week and get to know him a little bit better as well! :)

In my studies this week, I finished Alma 4 this morning, so if I can read at this same length I will finish Alma in 20ish weeks! Woot Woot! That'll be cool!! Hahaha :) But not only that, as of this Morning, Dad will be happy to know that I actually finished his challenge from before the Mission, because I finally have D&C 4 memorized in Spanish!! I learned that back in February during a Zone conference that I should do that! (I was reading my notes) and then today we received a email from President Rappleye giving us something that he told us at this last Zone Conference that we should memorize!! I'll include it at the end of the email! :) So I now have something else to memorize in Spanish!!

Although I want to tell you this Mom, with that part you said at the end of your email?? I can say that I am so glad I was born into a family of members of this Church. Because I know. Without a doubt, that if we didn't have the standards that we live by in this church, I would be a completely different, person. I am SO Glad that I chose to come on a Mission, because I get the chance for two years to help people change their lives and start to live by these same standards and receive these same blessings that I have received my entire life! :) This church is True, and I really DON'T want to know where I would be without it, and I encourage all to pray about the church to know if it is true (If you haven't already) because you Will receive an answer from the Holy Ghost like I have and Millions of others as well!

And with that, its time for me to finish writing on the back of pictures to give out to investigators and Members tonight and tomorrow and to start packing... Ugh... Hate that part. I Love you all and hope you have a wonderful week!! See you next week in Puerto Montt!! :) (It's beneath Osorno on the Map mom) :)

Love Always,

Elder Connor Holt

“The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.”

Week 47: World Cup baby!!:D

Hey everyone!! Happy Week of the World cup!!!

Yeah we are all super stoked this week! Since we have permission to watch all the games of Chile! Sorry Jed, I guess that means Chile over USA... Ha JK! No I am definitely Cheerin' for them Gringos but, we'll see how good they do! ;)

Hey! I have time this week, and so its gonna be lots of fun to actually write!!

Sorry Mom, for the super short letter last week for your Birthday, we didn't have much time, but I hope that you enjoyed that little package! Crazy how fast that got there! Niccole is still waiting for letters from months ago I think... Hmm? I dunno how that works. But speaking of packages I got both of them a week and a half ago! Thank you so much!! It was funny! The morning of, I was thinking, hmmmm I don't have a red tie, then I opened it up, and hey! There is a red tie! Hahaha thanks for everything! The packages were awesome! I am gonna save the shirts until my year mark I think, then start junking things. As it goes for shoes?? I think I am still okay, because I am starting to use my boots everyday, and since I have used my shoes every other day my entire mission, they aren't that bad! I am hoping I can survive another year with these shoes! Socks?? There aren't holes yet, but they are starting to turn see though, (The socks I started with) I opened my other pairs here in Coyhaique so those ones will have until Christmas to be like the socks I started with!

Hey you guys bought a big TV??? Crazy!! Can't wait to see that one! ;) Now that we finally got rid of the tv that we've had since Ive been born! ;)

Investigators?? We'll get to them a little later!

Ummm well, lets see... How was this last week? SO MUCH BETTER THAN LAST WEEK!!! I can't even describe to you all how much better this week was! For one I actually have time to write to you guys! Second?? I figured out the problem with my companionship! My companion is a cool guy! I won't lie there! (Okay not gonna lie at all) but I figured out why we have had SO much Contention this Transfer! My companion has to ALWAYS be Right! If he isn't he will fight and fight... Won't let you explain your side and gah... It has been a tough transfer, I think the longest I have had on the Mish... But hey if I am lucky, it will end here in a week and a half, we get transfer news on Saturday! So we will see if I am lucky to stay here in Coyahique for one more transfer or if I have to leave the land similar to Utah!

Really though, when I say Coyhaique is similar to Utah, I mean it. It has snowed this past week, and then the day after, I wasn't wearing a jacket all morning because it was hot, then by the afternoon it was Freezing! Like, it just is so crazy how things work out!

OKay, now to the fun Missionary work!! It has been a week, I can tell you that! We started last week with contention, since we had contention last p day. But we got out of contention just as fast, as we got into it as we started teaching, we started with teaching the first three lessons in 45 minutes to a less active guy who just moved here from Concepcion and wants to become active so that was sweet!!

We taught Roxanna and Roberto a bunch this past week, and they have baptismal fetcha for July 5th, but I dunno if they will get baptized, because every time we try to get them to go to church, set up a family night with members, or something they call us as we are walking to their house and something just happens to come up... Super frustrating, or today we were planning on having a special fast to help roxanna give up smoking, but as we got to their house, she just "wasn't there" gah... super frustrating...

We taught Miriam and Eduardo 2 or 3 times this last week which was awesome! Definitely some of my favorite people here in the Mission! They remind me a lot of you guys!! Because its funny they always have questions about technology for us as well, Miriam always asks about Facebook, and stuff so its hillarious!! ;)

Then we taught Sandra and Carlos and Isaboth this week as well, but we had some problems.... So Isaboth ran away on Friday night with her boyfriend that she has had since August that no one has known about, and so that was lots of fun, for two lessons without her there, and then yesterday as we were there teaching it got really awkward when the police knocked on the door with Isaboth, so we ended the lesson real fast so they could talk. But I am just glad that Isaboth is back!! That is good to know!!

But really that was our week! It was crazy (not) OH!!!! Also we started to teach a less active named Angelica! Her Husband IS NOT member, and we taught them twice! There was some good news!!! We'll see if we can get him with fetcha this week!! :))

Studies?? Yeah, I finished Mosiah! Before my year mark! Woot Woot! Now I only have 62 more chapters to go of Alma, because I finished Alma 1 today! Which is actually SUPER Good! It was just what I needed to read and study!!

24 For the hearts of many were hardened, and their names were blotted outthat they
were remembered no more among the people of God. And also many withdrew themselves from among them.
25 Now this was great trial to those that did stand fast ithe faith; nevertheless, they were steadfast and immovable in keeping the commandments of God, and they bore with patience the persecution which was heaped upon them.
SOmething I really needed to read, and then the blessings that came to the people of Nephi after these verses weren't that bad either... ;) If you have time, go check em out! Also the letter of Elder Kolby Strang was Amazing today and helpèd me out and will get me through the next week and a half I hope!! Oh and I can't leave out Sister Madi Palmer, I am gonna be VERY sad when she ends her Mission in August, I just Love her letters, they always get me pumped for the work!! :)
If you guys have time, go watch the video "Esperando Esperando" it is a great video (Don't worry, its in English) and it will get ya'lls in Utah who have so many temples to go to pumped!! I have another video for you guys to watch on my investigator Roberto, but I don't have my agenda at this moment, so I will tell you next week! Remind me!! :)
Anyways, that's all that I have today folks!!
I Love you all and hope you have enjoyed the #MissionLife of Elder Holt! Have a wonderful Week!

Elder Holt
Becoming more like Alma 48:17 every day! :)

1. Fun foto with the Snow

Week 46: Feliz Cumpleanos a la mejor Mam en el mundo

Hola Todos! Solo una Cosa.... ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS A LA MEJOR MAMA EN EL MUNDO!!!!!!!!

Wow so I don't have much time... We didn't print emails this morning, long story.... So yeah, I just dealt with all the getting everything set up and now we have like Twenty Minutes and I still have to write President! So sorry if this Birthday Letter is a little short Momma.

First off, once again Happy Birthday Momma! Hope that its been the best day in the world! I just found out that you share the same birthday as Nicole's Mom, so thats a fun fact for the day for you as well! :) Just wait for my birthday package that is coming for you, its not much, but I hope it is something you like! :)

This past week has been pretty sweet!! We did some great things!!

We had an activity on Saturday night with the branch that was lots of fun! Called a Mateada! That was lots of fun, its where everyone just comes to the church, drinks Mate and eats Sopaipillas! So it was a blast!! I fasted the day before so I got the chance to eat there! We also had Karaoke there and that was a blast to sing the first song!! Um some Love song with President Zamudio of Michael Buble and so it was a Blast!! Then yeah!! We can't drink Mate... So what I did?? I definitely ripped open three tea bags and just drank tea from a cup and had a bombilla, so it was my "Mate" It was just great! :)

Then the other day we had intercambios with the other elders who we live with and I was with Elder Payares in their sector! It was sweet!! I felt the Spirit SOO Much that day! We had such a cool experience, when we went to go contact a reference that we had given them like a month ago, he didn't answer, and so I said lets go knock a door here close by, so we looked for a house with smoke coming from the chimney, so I picked a house and he picked a house! My house? Yeah it was a lame one...  They came to the window, and then left. So we went to his house, and then a woman came and answered the door, and told us to come in without saying hello or anything. So we asked if there was a man? Nope... Nada. So we started to talk to her, and she invited us in again, and we explained that we couldn't without a man, and after she told us she had a dream the night before that two people were going to come to her house, and in her dream her house was really messy and crappy, and these two men came to the door and knocked and she invited them in and was very embarrassed of her house, and told them she was very sorry, they said "Its fine, we aren't here for your house but for you and showed her much love" which she could see in us from right there in her door, that before we had even talked to her, we were going to show her Love! It was such a cool finding experience!! :)

Yeah, I don't have anytime.... I am sorry.... I have to go write President now, I am not sure what's gonna happen next week.... All I can say is I can't wait for Transfers in two and a half weeks, and hope that I have em!

I Love you all, and just remember that God tests all of us, so that we can prove that we Love him! I Love him with all my heart! Hope you guys are Amazing!! :))

Elder Connor Gordon Holt

1 and 2 yeah, I am gonna be a man here in 6 weeks as I hit my year mark, and its proving to be true, because starting this past week, I now have to shave everyday.

3. Yeah, another sign that I love!!

4. Mmmmm my "Mate"

5.  When we woke up yesterday and went to church this is what we saw....
